Summer Truffle for the UK

Truffles are a type of fungi which grow close to the roots of hazel and oak trees. They are the most expensive fungus you can buy, highly valued chefs and connoisseurs for their superb flavour. Summer Truffles (Tuber aestivum var. uncinatum) are very tolerant of cooler climates and ideal for growing in the British climate. We also sell young trees inoculated with the Black Winter Truffle (Tuber melanosporum) which is more suited to the higher temperatures enjoyed in mainland Europe but could be grown in the warmer parts of the UK. The best land for truffle growing does not have any established trees, and has an alkaline soil with a ph of 7.3 to 8.3.  This is the ideal but they can be successfully grown on more acid soils by applying ordinary garden lime to raise the pH. Use a pH kit to find out the pH (acidity) of your soil
