Whitecurrant Bushes

Whitecurrants are easy to grow and very cold hardy, suitable for cultivation in all parts of the UK. They can be eaten raw or used in many desserts or jellies. Whitecurrant Bushes need fertile soil and full sun. Regular pruning in the first few years is important to maintain an open centred bush to make picking easier and to reduce the incidence of diseases such as mildew. In winter the main branches should be trimmed back to encourage side shoots which provide the fruit. remove any crossing branches and any which are crowding the middle. Aim for a goblet shaped bush

Bare root plants offer the best value for money and are generally available from November to March. Grown in Scotland from virus free stocks which are inspected by the Ministry of Agriculture twice per year. These plants are super quality and will establish quickly. For best results plant them as soon as you receive them, just avoid times when the soil is waterlogged or frozen
