Description

Platycerium bifurcatum or the Staghorn Fern is a tropical plant with unusual flattish fronds some of which split at the ends to give it it's common name of Staghorn or Stag's Horn Fern. Platycerium bifurcatum needs dappled shade and high humidity so ideal in a kitchen or bathroom, in drier rooms stand on a saucer of gravel which is kept moist. They are native of South East Asia where they grow as epiphytes, in trees, so they can be fastened to some bark with wire and sphagnum moss rather than grown in a pot. Feed regularly in growing season. Temp. minimum 12C.

Young plants in 1 litre pots, same size as shown in this photo, the foliage does fill the pot, ht. approx. 15-18cm, spread approx 15cm
