Peach and Nectarine Trees

Peaches and Nectarines make excellent garden plants and given a sunny, sheltered site, and well drained fertile soil they will provide very pretty spring blossom followed by succulent fruit. Peaches and Nectarines are self fertile so you only need one tree. They can be grown as a small tree or trained as a fan against a sunny wall. The dwarf patio varieties can be grown in a pot outside but also make good conservatory plants. Peach Leaf Curl is the main problem with most varieties of Peach and Nectarine. If you can keep them out of the spring rains they will not get leaf curl, but this is only possible with pot grown or conservatory/greenhouse specimens. If you cannot keep the rain off them in spring start spraying with Dithane from bud burst

Bare root trees offer the best value for money and are generally available from November to March. Grown in Scotland from virus free stocks which are inspected by the Ministry of Agriculture twice per year. These plants are super quality and will establish quickly. For best results plant them as soon as you receive them, just avoid times when the soil is waterlogged or frozen
