There are a wide range of water pumps suitable for water features. The smaller sizes, typically under 500 litres per hour, are really designed for indoor features. Mini feature pumps such as those with a flow rate of 700 or 900 are fine for small outdoor water features such as in-pond fountains, pebble fountains, small drilled rocks etc. For larger drilled monoliths, stainless steel pipes, waterfalls etc, the starting size is really 1600 litres per hour.

Pond hose is required to carry the water from the pump up to the top of the feature. The diameter of hose required is usually decided by the size of the outlet on the pump. However if the diameter of the hole on the water feature is much bigger it may be necessary to join two hose sizes together with an adapter to ensure a good fit at both ends.
