Damsons have been grown for years as they produce excellent fruit for jams, pies and wine making. They are also good to eat although not as large as many desert plums. The flesh is yellow and juicy. Damsons are known for the excellent flavour are sweetness. Damson Trees produce heavy crops which are ready to pick from August onwards. Self fertile so another pear is not required although beneficial for the best crops. This Damson Tree is grafted onto a dwarfing rootstock which will produce a bush of about 2 - 3 metres in 15 years.
