Physalis alkekengi is a frost hardy perennial with unusual flowers in late summer and autumn which look like bright orange Chinese Lanterns. They make excellent cottage garden plants. The lanterns become like lace during winter which are a favourite with flower arrangers

They may be dormant if you are buying them through the winter months but as they are pot grown they can still be planted.
