Magnolia soulangeana has large shell pink, goblet shaped flowers in spring before the leaves appear. They make excellent specimen plants but they need plenty of space as eventually they become a small tree. Magnolia soulangeana will grow in sun or part shade and is fully hardy but they do best in a sheltered spot. Ht to 1.5m (6ft) in 10 years. No pruning required
