Humulus lupulus Golden Tassels 'Dwarf Hop'

£10.99

Humulus lupulus commonly called the Golden Hop has long been a popular climber which shoots from the ground each spring and within a few months covers any climbing support rich golden yellow foliage. For those who find the ordinary golden hop too vigourous this new variety of Humulus lupulus called Golden Tassels is a dwarf form which tends to grow up to 2.5m but has the same golden foliage. Hop cones appear in late summer and quickly turn an attractive bronze. These are full sized, traditional hops which can be used for home brewing, herbal use or interior decoration. Humulus lupulus will grow well in most moist, fertile soils. Cut back to the ground in winter. In spring select eight strong shoots and cut the rest back to the ground

Tips for the home brewer:

  • Harvest the hop cones gently from the plant in September when fragrant and slightly sticky
  • Dry them slowly over several days (in an airing cupboard or similar area) until papery. Don't dry quickly by using an oven
  • These hops will make a number of different ales and they have excellent traditional aroma qualities, with medium bittering potential

Supplied in 3 litre pots, height approx 90cm excluding pot, with 3 - 4 strong shoots tied to a cane. Shipped within 3 days
