Uncinia rubra, sometimes called Red Hook Sedge, makes thick clumps of arching, evergreen foliage which are rich mahogany-red. Great in pots or dotted round gravel beds or at the front of borders too. Uncinia rubra is best in sun or part shade, a sheltered spot, planted in soil which does not dry out but is not waterlogged either. In exposed areas it will need some winter protection. Grows to about 30cm tall, with a wide spread of about 25cm
