Grass Protection Product Selector
If you want to make a grass drive, or use a lawned area for extra parking space there will be a HDPE mesh which will suit your purpose. Grass Protection Mesh is ideal in areas where local authorities are insisting on the front garden remaining a green space to accomodate natural drainage. The only requirement is that the ground must be firm and well drained. No mesh will be strong enough to prevent rutting of soft ground which is easily waterlogged. As a rough guide, if you can push your finger into the lawn by more than 1 cm when it is moist then the ground is unsuitable for Turf Reinforcement Mesh or any grade of Grass Protection Mesh. For landscapers we can supply technical data sheets so you can accurately assess whether the ground is suitable or not As a general rule Turf Reinforcement Mesh is used for lightweight plastic mesh with a weight of under 1000g per square metre. Heavier meshes of 1000g per m2 and above are ususally called Grass Protection Mesh and they can resist greater forces. The products in our online shop are arranged from the lightest to the heaviest mesh, as expressed in grams per square metre (g/m2). The price increases with the weight and specification of the product but always choose a mesh which is suitable for your purpose, otherwise the result can be disappointing if the lawned area fails to get the level of protection required to prevent rutting Lightweight Turf Reinforcement Mesh is suitable for strengthening embankments, creating better access for wheelchairs, buggies, cleaner pedestrian access etc. The grades of 1000g per m2 and above are suitable for occasional vehicle parking. For heavier vehicles or more frequent use choose a heavier grade of mesh (look at the weight per m2 as means of comparing different products).
