Grass Protection Mesh Installation

Grass Protection Mesh for parking on grass, parking on lawns, grass drive

  • Turf and Grass protection mesh can be installed at any time of year but the time when it can take the maximum load can be reduced by laying it when the grass is actively growing

  • Cut the grass short and ensure that the area is as level as possible and clear of any protruding stones

  • Fill in any hollows with a mixture of fine topsoil and sharp sand so the mesh is fully in contact with the ground

  • Turn the mesh over against the roll so that it curves downwards, and unroll over the area to be protected

  • Secure one end with Fixing Pins and then pin down each side every metre and finally the other end of the roll

  • Where the area to be protected is wider than roll width butt the edges of the roll together and secure by placing a Fixing Pin across each edge. Also pin down any area of the mesh which is not in contact with the grass

  • If the mesh is laid over any area of bare earth, apply suitable grass seed and fertilizer dressing at approximately 50g per m2 and cover with a thin layer of top soil and sand. This will encourage early root growth around the mesh filaments and increase stability

  • Vehicles and pedestrians should be kept off the area until the grass has grown at least 1 inch and mown twice with the blades set high, following which the area can be rolled if required

  • Remember maximum strength will only be developed when the grass roots have intertwined with the mesh filaments
