Plums, Gages and DamsonsPlum, Gage and Damson Trees make excellent garden fruit trees and the modern bush varieties do not grow too big which means they are easy to pick and can be protected from pests as the fruit ripens. Plums, Gages and Damsons are self fertile so you only need one tree. They are trouble free but flower early and if the flowers are caught by a severe frost it can reduce the crop considerably so if you live in a cold area choose a tough variety like Victoria and plant in a sunny sheltered spot Bare root trees offer the best value for money and are generally available from November to March. Grown in Scotland from virus free stocks which are inspected by the Ministry of Agriculture twice per year. These plants are super quality and will establish quickly. For best results plant them as soon as you receive them, just avoid times when the soil is waterlogged or frozen |
