Blueberry BushesBlueberries are a very rewarding crop being expensive in the supermarkets and yet relatively easy to grow. They need acid soils below pH 5.5 so in most parts of the country they are best grown in a large pot of ericaceous compost, watered with rain water and fed with ericaceous plant feed. Alternatively, if you prefer to plant them in the ground, choose a sunny spot and incorporate plenty of ericaceous compost mixed with soil from the planting hole before you backfill with the mixture. Still use ericaceous feed in the spring and summer plus top dress with composted pine needles or similar acidic mulch, once or twice per year. Seasonal Care Provided you follow these requirements you will be delighted with the number of berries you will be picking over quite a few weeks. The season can be extended by using varieties which fruit early, mid-season or late Click this link for an explanation of our Delivery charges |
