Blackcurrants are easy to grow and the tasty fruit is jam packed with vitamin C, famously more than oranges.
Blackcurrants need deep, fertile soil and full sun to do well. The bush gets bigger each year and the fruting stems are cut back to a few centimetres after the fruit has been harvested. The new wood produced produces the heaviest crops. Blackcurrant bushes are very stable and don't need any support from stakes or wires
