Delivery chargesDelivery Methods We use Royal Mail First or Second Class Post for small items. For larger items we use Royal Mail Standard Parcels*, City Link, UK Mail, TNT, Nightfreight and Tuffnells depending on the goods and their origin. These couriers deliver between 8am and 5pm Monday to Friday, or 8am to 1pm on Saturdays for an extra charge (Saturday delivery surcharges start at £20 and can be much more for larger items. If you require Saturday delivery please ask us for a quote). Most items are sent within 3 days using a Next Day service. Large heavy items like garden furniture are despatched on a pallet in 1 - 2 days using a three day service, a Next Day service for large items can be arranged for a small surcharge. *Please note that the price for Royal Mail Parcels is for a single carton and we may not be able to offer this service for some orders as there would be damage to the contents if transported in one box (e.g. a mix of plants and heavy dry goods) What happens if I am out? Posted items will be returned to the local Post Office where they can be collected at your convenience but this must be within 7 days. If a courier service cannot deliver they will put a card through your door with the Contact Information for the local depot. Please ring the number provided and re-arrange delivery at a suitable time, alternatively you can call at the depot for your parcel. We can ask the couriers to leave the parcel with a neighbour or friend if they are close by Can items be left without a signature? We can ask the couriers to leave items without a signature if you can suggest a safe place, this is normally not a problem, but any such request must be at your own risk and we would always recommend getting someone to sign for the goods, especially if they are expensive. We cannot ask the courier to leave items in refuse bins Light items are delivered using Royal Mail, if you are out they will leave a card through the door so you can collect from your local Post Office Other items are delivered by City Link, UK Mail, TNT, Nightfreight or Tuffnells, depending on the goods ordered and their origin. The weight shown for an item includes the packaging necessary to protect it during transit *A volumetric weight is applied to bulky items which are charged by parcel companies according to their volume. This volumetric weight is not the true weight but a calculated weight based on the volume of the parcel/s. Unfortunately we have to charge our customers accordingly although we do try to keep this to a minimum Goods despatched direct to you from Partner Suppliers The delivery charges on items despatched direct to you by a Partner Supplier are the same as if you bought from them direct instead of via The Plant Directory store. The charge is set by each individual supplier with some charging a flat rate, others charge according weight and postcode. If you purchase items from more than one supplier you will see the shipping charge for each supplier as you go through the Checkout process. The easiest way to see what shipping charges you will pay before getting to the Checkout pages is to use the Shipping Estimator button which is integrated into the Shopping Cart in our online store Shipping Estimator button Add any items you are interested in to your Shopping Cart and click the Shipping Estimator button. After entering your postcode you will given the shipping charge which applies to all the items in your shopping cart. Items can be removed from your cart at anytime and the shipping re-calculated by pressing the Update button. Items can be removed from your cart at any time, even when you are at the Checkout page. If you are buying items which are shipped by different suppliers there will be a separate shipping charge shown for each partner supplier
Delivery required on a certain date/time If you would like your order to arrive on a particular date please metion this in your order notes and we will do our best to oblige. Items sent by courier can be delivered before 12 or on a Saturday subject to a surcharge. If you would like a quote for morning or Saturday delivery please Contact Us for a quote.
