Corylopsis pauciflora has the common name of Winter Hazel. It is a graceful Japanese shrub with primrose yellow, cowslip scented flowers before the leaves appear. Very hardy but the early blooms will last longer in a sheltered spot and light shade. Ht 1.5m in 10 yrs. Pruning not advised
