Coleus canina, named by the RHS as Plectranthus ornatus, nick-named 'Scardy Cat' is a relatively new plant to cultivation which has a pungent smell reputed to scare cats away, as well as dogs, badgers etc.  Coleus canina likes sun & well drained soil, in pots or the garden, tolerates light frost if kept dry. Trim in spring. Height and spread approx 40cm in two years. A great way of deterring cats from your garden and recommended by the 'Vegan Society' as a humane form of pest control
