Ivy - Hedera

Ivy can be a very useful self-clinging climber which will hide unsightly buildings, fences and walls. It can become invasive so keep it well pruned but on the positive side it is evergreen and can cope with full shade and very wet or very dry soils. Hedera hibernica gives a lovely natural appearance but there are many others with interesting leaf shapes and striking leaf colour such as Goldheart and Eva. Ivy is an excellent plant for encouraging wildlife. All parts of the plant are poisonous
