Gijnlim is an F1 asparagus which produces heavy yields of fine flavoured spears. It is botrytis resistant and been awarded the RHS Award of Garden Merit.These are pot grown one year old Asaparahus crowns and can be planted out straight away. There are two roots in each pot but unless they are dormant they should not be seperated, better to just plant them together as they come out of the pot into a mound of deep, fertile, well drained soil. The asparagus bed should be in full sun or part shade. You can cut one or two spears when the plants are 3 years old, do not cut too many spears when the crowns are young, the bed will get more productive with age. An asparagus bed needs to be left undisturbed for a number of years for best results.
