Acer 'Atropurpureum' is a deservedly popular Japanese Acer due to it's rich purple foliage through spring and summer. Makes a great contrast plant to balance too much green in the garden. It autumn the foliage beomes a blaze of orange and red. This variety is easy to grow, tolerates most soils and will thrive in sun or part shade. Very hardy but best planted in a sheltered spot otherwise the edges of the leaves can be damaged
